The Department of Maritime Studies and the Maritime technical college is located both in the seaside resort Warnemünde, a district of the Hanseatic City of Rostock. Since 1419 Rostock is a university town and with more than 200.000 inhabitants not only the biggest city in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, but also a significant economic factor. The spectrum of Education in Rostock is very varied and scientifically successful. Approximately 15.000 students are studying in Rostock.
Since 1952 Education is offered at the Campus Warnemünde, since 1969 the internationally accepted maritime education. Experienced professors, practice-oriented staff, modern simulation technology as well as well-equipped laboratories and a pleasant study atmosphere are going to await you at the Campus, which is placed directly when you enter Warnemünde.
At the Department of Maritime Studies a mainly maritime oriented research is conducted, its research topics are frequently processed jointly with international cooperation partners. Based on the amount of the raised third-party-funds the research at the Maritime Department members the top of the research done at the Hochschule Wismar.
